History
The origin of Ocarina is from the Pre-Hispanic America. The Quechua and Aimaras utilized this musical instrument, accompanied with Andean flutes (quenas), pan pipes (zampoñas) and other instrument. It is very hard to make since it is made out of chalk and it is hallow in the center. They are made in different sizes, however they never surpass the length of a hand. They are used in Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, Northern Chile, Northern Argentina, and all of Mesoamerica.
There exists a theory about the origin of this instrument in Europe, but it is about a different instrument with similar characteristics, due to the South American Ocarina being around for hundredths of years before the arrival of Spaniards.
